Number 4 on our winery trail tour. We had a great time just getting here, majestic peaceful spot in the country. For having a rather large group the lone staff (Fahrmeier's matriarch) was extremely knowledgeable, able to keep up, was very friendly and fun.
I personally enjoyed all the wine, even the sweeter ones (which not too often I do). The sweet wines tasted natural and were made very well. Walked away with a "Norton" and a "Sweet Tempered Tart" even though I could have grabbed a few more.
We stopped here at our first stop of the day on the Kansas City Wine Trail. They were not open despite the hours online. A quick phone call (from the other couple who was there before us) and they were there welcoming us in. Great customer service and friendly people. Wine was good, we really enjoyed the new Spring Fling that just came out with a sweet strawberry flavor! They were also having a pick your own strawberries day that we missed, as they were almost sold out. Will remember that for next year!
Very cool location with an amazing 360 degree view of the nearby rolling hills. Set off the highway far enough to avoid heavy traffic, but close enough to I-70 and Hwy 24 to access easily, this place is a great hideaway and hidden gem. Lovely selections like the dry white Flawless and the heavy hitting red Norton make the estate crafted artisan wines a must try. Good bands on the weekends with a beer and wine drinking bar crowd (no hard liquor) are a great time to relax with friends! New summer 'wineritas' (a frozen drink) are delicious in this heat. Can't wait to get back there and hang out on the patio!
